形态特征（Description）：灌木或亚灌木，高0.5-1.5米，小枝、叶下面、叶柄、花梗及萼的外面密被淡黄色的单毛及1-2分枝或树枝状分枝的绒毛。上部叶常假双生，大小不相等；大叶片椭圆状卵形，偏斜，先端渐尖，基部楔形渐窄至叶柄而成窄翅，长约9-13-15厘米，宽约3.5-5-7厘米；叶柄长约2-4厘米；小叶片宽卵形，先端短渐尖，基部宽圆形而后骤窄下延至柄而成窄翅，长2.5-4厘米，宽2-3厘米；叶柄长约0.5-1厘米，两种叶均膜质，全缘，上面绿色，被简单具节分散的短柔毛；下面灰绿色。花序无柄，通常2-3朵少4-5朵花着生于叶腋内；花梗短，约5-8毫米；萼杯状，长约3毫米，直径约3.5毫米，萼齿10,钻状线形，长约2毫米，两面均被有与萼外面相同的毛被；花冠淡紫色或白色，星形，直径约10-12毫米，顶端深5裂，裂片披针形，端尖，长约6毫米，宽约1.5毫米，外面在中上部及边缘被有平伏的短而尖的单毛；花冠筒隐于萼内，长约1.5毫米，冠檐长约7.5毫米，基部具深色（干时黑色）的斑点，花丝长约1毫米，光滑，花药近椭圆形，长约3毫米，宽约1毫米，在内面常被微柔毛，顶孔向内，偏斜。子房卵形，长约2毫米，宽约1.8毫米，光．滑，花柱纤细，长约8毫米，光滑，柱头头状。果柄长约1-1.5厘米，浆果球形，直径约6-8毫米，成熟果绯红色，宿萼盘形，萼齿长约4-5毫米，与果柄同样被有与小枝相似的毛被；种子多数，淡黄色，近卵形至近三角形，水平压扁，约长2毫米，宽1.5毫米，外面具凸起的网纹。花期5-8月，果期7-11月。
分布（Distribution）：产云南、四川、广西、广东、江西、福建、台湾等地，生于海拔150-2000米荒野阴湿地、林下、路旁、水边及山谷中。印度、马来西亚、印度尼西亚的爪哇至琉球也有。
