形态特征（Description）：乔木，高7-10米，常有胶质状分泌物；小枝常具明显的节，节间密，长不及1厘米，被短柔毛，后渐脱落。叶纸质或革质，倒卵形、倒卵状椭圆形、广椭圆形或长圆形，长7-29厘米，宽3-16厘米，顶端短渐尖，尖头钝或稍钝，基部钝，楔形或稍短尖，上面稍有粘液，被短柔毛，下面密被绒毛；侧脉12-20对，和中脉均在下面凸起；叶柄长0.6-1.2厘米，稍有粘液，有短柔毛；托叶长0.5-1厘米，合生成管状，近膜质，顶部截形，有缘毛，后稍变硬和脱落。花大，直径约7厘米，芳香，单生于小枝顶端；花梗长1-1.5厘米，粗壮，稍粘，被微柔毛；花萼长1.3-1.5厘米，管状，在顶端一侧分裂，外面稍粘，稍被柔毛，内面有紧贴的毛；花冠黄色或白色，高脚碟状，裂片5，阔倒卵形，长4-5厘米，宽约3厘米，有脉，无毛，冠管圆筒状，长5-7厘米，直径3-5毫米，外面稍被微柔毛，内面无毛；雄蕊5枚，着生在花冠喉部，花药长达1.5厘米，宽2毫米，内藏或伸出；子房1室，花柱长约6厘米，有槽，下部疏被近紧贴的柔毛，柱头棒状，胚珠多数，着生在2个侧膜胎座上。果绿色，椭圆形或长圆形，被微柔毛，常有5-6条纵棱，长2.5-5.5厘米，直径1.5-3.5厘米，果皮硬，革质，厚约2毫米；种子多数，近圆形，扁，直径3-4毫米，有蜂窝状小孔。花期4-8月，果期6月至翌年4月。
分布（Distribution）：产于云南，生于海拔700-1 600米处的山坡、村边或溪边林中。泰国和老挝也有。

Berry ellipsoid or ellipsoid-oblong, 2.5-5.5 × 1.5-3.5 cm, puberulent, smooth or with 5 or 6 longitudinal lines or very weak ridges, leathery to hard; seeds suborbicular, flattened, 3-4 mm in diam., foveolate. W. C. Chen (in FRPS 71(1): 335. 1999) described the flowers as terminal on branchlets, but these are pseudoaxillary on all specimens seen as described here.
